Vocabulary-We will go over the definitions & parts of speech of the following words and then use each word in a sentence of their creation correctly.  Sustain Pernicious Intimate Reconciliation Inextricable Legitimate Discord Defaulted Amnesty Mobility We will review THE ELEMENTS OF FICTION on pp.23-25. We will then read The Necklace p.26 in the text. We will discuss the Irony in the story and discuss other literary elements

Students will do the following in my class:   Vocabulary-Students will find the definition & part of speech of the following words and then use each word in a sentence of their creation correctly.  Sustain Pernicious Intimate Reconciliation Inextricable Legitimate Discord Defaulted Amnesty Mobility Students will be introduced to Fiction and the elements of fiction on pp.23-25. We will then read The Necklace p.26 in the text.

Students will do the following in my class: Journal-Students will write whether their weekends were good or not by utilizing the five paragraph essay format giving specific reasons for their choosing to classify their weekends as positive or negative.  Parts of speech tests-Students will go over their parts of speech tests and see an item analysis over each question.  Students are expected to pay attention and to find the correct answers to the questions they missed.  Also, students may ask any questions they might have about the content at this time.  STUDENTS THAT WERE ABSENT NEED TO TAKE THE TEST AT THIS TIME Sentence Structure-Students will begin sentence structure lessons.  We will use and complete pages 44-47 in the prepositions/conjunctions packet to discuss this.

Students will review Conjunctions and Prepositions. We will continue our talk and complete worksheet pages 29-32 on prepositions and prepositional phrases. Interjections will be discussed. We will use the grammar books in class to complete Parts of speech review questions p.602 Exercise A 1-10.   P. 603 Exercise A 1-10                           B 1-20 TEST ON PARTS OF SPEECH TOMORROW

Students will do the following in my class: Journal-In 1986, the rose became the U.S. National Flower.  Do you think this was a good choice for our country?  Would you have picked a different flower?  Why? Review verbs Continue Conjunctions Begin Prepositions and teach "Squirrel Test" Complete packet pages 27-32 for Practice.

Students will do the following in my class today: Journal-October 2, 1950, the Peanuts comic was introduced to the world.  If you could be any comic character, book character, or cartoon character who would you be?  Why would you choose to be this person?  Explain. Review Adjectives, Adverbs, Verbs Watch Video over Verbs Check HW pp.15 and 16 Discuss Subject Verb Agreement p.17 and complete it.

Students will do the following in my class today: Journal-On this day in 1908, Henry Ford introduced the Model T car.  What car is your dream car?  Why is this car better than any others?  If you could "PIMP YOUR RIDE" how would you do it and why? Check HW pages 19 and 20 Round Robin Adverb activity Complete p.21 in packet on Adverbs and Adjectives Begin Verbs with School House Rock Complete pp. 15 and 16 for HW.

Students will do the following in my class: Describe your favorite place to get away.  Create imagery by using all five senses (sensory detail) Create two adjective flowers Complete the following exercise: Write the adjectives in each sentence. 1. More than 300 workers will be idle when the Burlington plant closes. (3 adjectives) 2. I will need to create a new design because my boss wants something no one has ever seen before. (1 adjective) 3. Kevin is anxious for his sister to have a baby so he can be an uncle. (1 adjective) 4. When Maria took piano lessons, she had to practice an hour each day. (2 adjectives) Use each of the following adjectives once to complete each sentence: sluggish, external, annual and mud. 5. The bark is the (adjective) covering of a tree. 6. I have been feeling (adjective) lately and have not felt like doing anything. 7. Memorial Day is an (adjective) holiday that we celebrate in May. 8. My little sister made a (adjective) pie for me. In each sentence one adjective is missing. Write one adjective to complete the sentence. 9. You are (your adjective) of talking and walking at the same time. 10.
