Today in English we will do the  following:

Go to Socrative.com and take a short 3 question quiz and then discuss the three types of irony.  We will look at an item analysis of each question and then look at exaplanations as to why each answer is correct or incorrect. 

The questions are:
1) Describe an example of dramatic irony from a movie that you watched or a story you are familiar with. Explain how this is dramatic irony.
2) Which of the following is an example of verbal irony?
A. Telling a lunch lady that you are hungry.
B. Telling the shortest person in school they are pretty tall.
C. A "fight childhood obesity ad" with a McDonald's sign next to it advertising kids meals.
D. Calling a peaceful room's noise a "loud silence. "

3) situational irony is

 
A. A comparison between two unlike objects using the words like or as.
B.When something opposite of what was expected happens.
C.When the audience knows something that not everyone in the story knows.
D.A comparison between two unlike things not using like or as.
E. When someone says something but means the opposite. Sarcasm is an example.
